Recently a member of our TelWare family was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our family has built a very tight knit team of professionals, who rely on each other to achieve our mission of providing the best telecommunications products and service. This is why it dealt such a blow to us when we received the diagnosis.
The scope of this terrible disease is larger than it should be, affecting 1 in 8 U.S. women over the course of her lifetime. This is why we are proud to announce we are joining the fight against breast cancer. In addition to supporting our family member, we are going to help raise awareness in the fight against this disease that has touched so many lives.
For our debut breast cancer awareness event, we are excited to be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Charlotte on October 5, 2013. We acknowledge that there is power in numbers, so teaming together with other breast cancer survivors, families and friends all in the name of support is very important to us.
The Susan G. Komen For The Cure organization was founded in 1982 by Nancy Brinker as a way of honoring her sister Susan G. Koemen, who unfortunately died of breast cancer at the young age of 36. The conception of this organization begins with a promise made by Nancy to "Suzy" that she would do everything in her power to end the horrible rampage of breast cancer. To say she's been keeping her promise would be an understatement! So far, the organization has funded 1.9 billion in community health and research grants.
"Since rallying our TelWare family together around the issue, we have realized the power of support," says Mike Canipe of TelWare. "We are absolutely thrilled to be in the position to extend a hand of compassion, empathy and love to those affect by t
his horrible disease."
The Race for the Cure is an open event to all who would like to attend. After a brief registration process, you can join our TelWare family as well as hundreds of others coming together to support those bravely combatting this disease.
We are delighted to be joining other breast cancer supporters in Charlotte on October 5, for the Susan G. Koemen Race for the Cure. To learn more about our breast cancer support movements, the Race for the Cure, the Susan G. Koemen For The Cure organization, or our new pink Avaya business phones, call Mike Canipe of TelWare at 704-598-4700. Together we can defeat this terrible disease!
