How Does the VoIP Provider Communicate and Resolve Technical Issues?

Only sign up with a provider that has an established system in place for communication and problem resolution. How will the provider notify you when technical problems need to be addressed so downtime is at a minimum? Conversely, how should you notify the provider when you need to troubleshoot a technical issue, or add or take away users? Will one key individual be in charge of your trouble ticket, so you don't get involved in a nightmarish game of "telephone"? Streamlined and efficient communication and updates are important for everyone involved.

Do You Need Dedicated Bandwidth for the Hosted VoIP Phone System?

Next, find out from your provider how much dedicated bandwidth must be set aside for the VoIP phone system. The vendor should be able to provide detailed information on what factors you need to evaluate in order to have a successful connection:

  • the data download and upload speed provided by your internet provider;
  • the extent to which other applications on your network dominate your free bandwidth;
  • Quality of Service (QoS) settings that can be altered to receive the most amount of bandwidth.
Does the VoIP Vendor Offer A Mobile Solution?

Lastly, ask if the VoIP provider's services are compatible with mobile devices. Mobile solutions are essential if your company has employees who work remotely or travel often. A VoIP vendor that also offers a mobile app can help staff conduct business with their smart phones, regardless if they are in the office or not.
