As business phone systems evolve there is an ever changing set of included features. These new features expand communication, not only for internal employees, but for the ever more mobile work force, as well. If you haven't considered replacing your system within the last five years, here are some features that may seem revolutionary to you, but are standard on most IP phone systems today.

Additional Call Options: Mobility, in the past, consisted of some combination of call forwarding and call waiting, but contemporary business phones offer additional features. New mobility allows for calls to be sent to a mobile phone without requiring a forward. This means your desk phone and you mobile phone can ring at the same time. Important call coming in as you walk back into the office? Answer on your mobile and with a quick button press, send it back to your desk phone with no indication to the client.

VoIP: Phones that connect over the internet are called VoIP. Using internet broadband to make calls is great way to connect to work-at-home employees and workers on business trips, without tangled phones wires or confusing switchboard hardware. A simple internet connection makes calling through your business phone system possible. It also gives you the option to call from a mobile phone, but send your business phone number as the caller ID.

Voicemail options: Voicemail is a place where messages are collected when someone is not available. Phone systems today include additional options: an email attachment and text copy. Voicemail to email sends an audio attachment of a voicemail to the user with caller ID (if available), and a date and time stamp. The user can click the audio file to listen to the voicemail from the email without the hassle of dialing into the system to retrieve the voice mail. Message transcription is also a new feature on business phone systems. This allows the audio file to be translated into text form, then emailed to the user. This can include the audio or not depending on the user's preference.

These are just a few of the new standard features. Learn what else you have been missing and get a phone system that gives you everything your business needs to thrive.
